“[Kristy’s] competitiveness really kicked in last year and she went from a runner to a racer,” head coach Wendy Hegarty said. “I’m looking forward to seeing her race this year and stepping up again to replace our runners that we lost to graduation.”

How long have you run cross country? Since 6th grade at Hickory Creek Junior High.
What do you love most about running cross country?
Running past the finish line and seeing a new [personal record].
What are your goals for the upcoming season? How will you achieve them?
To again make it to the state meet. I’ve been running more over the summer to build a good base before the season starts. I will maximize my workouts to hopefully drop my time during each meet.
How do you motivate yourself to train during the summer?
Thinking about the upcoming season and how my summer running will affect it.
Who has inspired you most in your athletic endeavors?
My mom because she always makes sure I’m setting goals and doing what I can to reach them.
If you didn’t run cross country, what would you be doing?
Swimming. I used to swim on a competitive swim team until I really got into running.
What’s the best part about summer in Frankfort?
Being able to run with my friends – especially running the trails.
Who is your favorite athlete and why?
Michael Phelps because he inspires people to chase their dreams and never give up.
How do you beat the heat during workouts?
I stay focused and hydrate!
