Retired Illinois Tool Works chairman and Chief Executive W. James Farrell on Monday listed his seven-bedroom, 12,320-square-foot mansion in Lake Forest for almost $7 million.
Farrell, 72, was the Glenview-based conglomerate’s chief from 1995 until 2005.
Built in 1929 and designed by architect Harrie T. Lindeberg, Farrell’s three-story, English-style mansion has been recently renovated and has seven baths, seven fireplaces, a wine room, a second-floor family room, a library and a breakfast room. Outside on the 2.05-acre property are a tennis court, a pool and an attached coach house.
On Monday, Farrell listed the mansion for $6.995 million.
"It is magnificent," said listing agent Marina Carney of Griffith, Grant & Lackie.
