“Saturday Night Live,” set to wrap its 38th season this month, is branching out into Mexico with the help of iO Theater's Charna Halpern, who is working with producers to cast the new show.

Auditions for Spanish-speaking writers and performers will be held at iO on June 5 for a pilot that will be shot live in Mexico City. Halpern says “SNL Mexico” is looking for nine people on the writing side, nine on the performing side. (Auditions will also be held a week later at iO West in Los Angeles.) Halpern will be working with Mexican comedy actor Eugenio Derbez and producers Fernando Rovzar and Adriana Bello. Those interested in an audition can contact charna@ioimprov.com.

iO Theater, along with Second City, has been a consistent feeder of talent for the long-running NBC sketch comedy show.
