'Building each home as if it was our own'
West Point Builders and Developers, Inc., is celebrating their 56th year. They are currently building West Point Gardens in Elgin. We asked Pat Curran of West Point Builders about their business and latest project.
What are your specialties?
We create neighborhoods that, like a small town, have different housing styles that provide attractive choices for a wide variety of buyers. At West Point Gardens, we have four series of single-family homes, including our maintenance-free detached townhomes — a West Point Builders innovation.
We emphasize the indoor-outdoor relationship in our homes, and we do not build stock plans but offer buyers plenty of ways to customize the homes. We build neighborhoods and homes that really complement buyer's lifestyles.
What home building trends are you seeing?
In-home technology is a major trend and is growing ever more sophisticated. Buyers prefer open floor plans so that the kitchen and family room maximize hard-to-find togetherness time for busy families.
Do you have a favorite customer testimonial(s)?
In 2007, my dad was remodeling the home of a family friend and he saw a couple leaving the first home he had ever built back in 1957. He introduced himself, and discovered that the couple were the original buyers. They invited dad in and over the next hour they told him the story of how they loved the house and the happy times they had raising their children there. Now their grandchildren visited them in the same family home.
Dad told us you should be able to stop by your customers' homes no matter how much time has passed. If you did a good job and responded to all their issues, you have a customer for life…and a good source for referrals.
Why should a customer choose your business?
AWe are personally involved on site to oversee construction of the homes, and we believe in building each home as if it was our own. The Curran family is always at West Point Gardens to ensure the highest level of quality and customer satisfaction.
Is your business involved in any charities?
We are involved with Aspire of Illinois, which serves children and adults with developmental disabilities and Almost Home Kids, an organization that serves children facing serious and ongoing medical challenges. For more information, contact Christine Smith at 847-608-1000, firstname.lastname@example.org, or visit westpointgardens.com.
