A man who apparently was struck and killed by a freight train this afternoon on the Southwest Side has been identified, authorities said.
Peter Borzeka, 56, of the 9400 block of South 79th Avenue in Hickory Hills, was dead on the scene, according to the Cook County medical examienr’s office.
Police responded to the 2500 block of West Columbus Avenue shortly after noon after the train hit the victim and he was found along some tracks which might be owned by CSX, according to police News Affairs Officer Joshua Purkiss.
An autopsy is scheduled for Friday that will determine the cause and manner of Borzeka's death.
