Sheriff’s police were called to the 1300 block of Park Lane about 7:10 p.m. Sunday night for a disturbance involving about 150 people, said Frank Bilecki, spokesman for Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart. Four adults and two 16-year-olds were charged with mob action and released on personal recognizance bonds today, Bilecki said.
Sheriff's officers and officers from 11 other area departments arrived and gave orders to people to disperse, but several refused, and they were arrested.
One person was beaten up, but after examination at a local hospital, was found to have suffered only minor injuries, Bilecki said.
Gang teams and multiple suburban police agencies assisted in the residential area, he said.
A total of 12 people were taken into custody, but six were later released, Bilecki said today.
Tierra Freeman, 21, of Park Forest, Shakura Johnson, 21, of Chicago Heights, Shrelle Andrews, 29, of Ford Heights, and Shaquille Williams, 21, of Ford Heights, were charged with mob action, Bilecki said. Two juveniles, both age 16, one from Sauk Village and the other from Ford Heights, were cited in juvenile petitions in the incident, Bilecki said.
The adults charged in the melee appeared before Markham District Judge Darren Bowden this morning and were released on personal recognizance bonds, Bilecki said. The juveniles were released to their guardians' care, he said.
