Construction barge takes on water in Chicago River

The vessel began taking on water about 1:30 p.m. in the river near Canal and Adams streets, prompting Fire Department crews and police Marine Unit crews to head out there, said Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford.
No one is on the barge and authorities are watching it and trying to figure out how to handle the incident, said Langford.
“There is no danger of anyone being hurt,’’ he said. “No rescues are necessary.’’
