• Tow trucks spent hours overnight removing more than 80 cars and trucks from an auto lot in the West Englewood neighborhood after police found stolen vehicles, parts and equipment there, authorities said. Vehicles were still being towed from the lot in the 6400 block of South Bell Avenue this morning, but police said they had not determined yet how many of them were stolen. Many of them appeared damaged. Read more

• A 31-year-old man, described by relatives as a devoted father who wrote rap music, was shot to death in the South Side's Gresham neighborhood, just blocks from a police station, authorities said. Robert Douglas was shot around 9:50 p.m. in the 7500 block of South Union Avenue, authorities said. Officers responding to a call of a person shot found Douglas lying unresponsive on the ground, Police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said. Read more

• Four people were hurt, three seriously, in a crash involving a CTA bus, a dump truck and a third vehicle on the South Side Wednesday night. Read more
