• Damani Henard called his mom to say he was biking to a friend's house to play video games. The 14-year-old boy was shot and killed while riding his bike home from that friend's house in the North Austin neighborhood. Read more

• Ten days before he was to receive a portion of $150,000 he found in his garden, Wayne Sabaj died after going into diabetic shock, his lawyer Robert Burke said. The Johnsburg man reported finding the money in August 2011. Since then, the daughter of an elderly neighbor claimed the money, leading to an agreement that was to be formalized in court on July 11, Burke said. Read more

• A 29-year-old man died when he crashed his car in the North Austin neighborhood after fleeing police who had pulled him over, authorities said. The man, whose name has not been released pending notification of family members, was pulled over by a police officer after running a stop sign, police said. Read more
