A Chicago man drowned while swimming in a lake near a popular resort and restaurant in Lake Villa Sunday afternoon, one of two drownings in Lake County lakes over the last week.

Lukasz Barabasz, 29, of the 3900 block of North Oak Park Avenue, was pronounced dead at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville at 4:23 p.m. Sunday, Lake County Coroner Artis Yancey said.

The coroner said Barabasz had been swimming in Deep Lake, in front of Jack and Lydia's Resort, 38610 N. Edgewood St.

Separately, authorities today recovered the body of another man who had been presumed drowned in nearby Loon Lake near Antioch after failing to surface while swimming off a pontoon boat last Thursday,  Yancey said.

The man who drowned in Loon Lake has been identified only as a 62-year-old.
