Chicago police have issued a community alert asking for information from the public on a hit-and-run accident that killed a man on the South Side early Friday morning.
The accident occurred about 3:40 a.m. at about 6030 S. Yale Avenue in the Englewood neighborhood, the alert said.
The man was identified as Timothy Jones, of the 200 block of South Sacramento, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. The exact cause of death is pending further studies, according to the office.
Jones was found underneath the Green Line tracks that run out to 63rd Street and Ashland Avenue. The Cook County medical examiner’s office said he was 41.
The vehicle that hit the man left the area heading southbound, according to the alert. No details were available on the kind of vehicle involved in the accident.
