• A briefcase left at the Thorndale CTA stop prompted police to stop Red Line traffic in both directions until 4:45 a.m. Someone had left the briefcase at the Red Line stop at 1100 W. Thorndale Avenue in the Edgewater Beach neighborhood. A person called police about it around 2:25 a.m. and the Chicago Police Department's Bomb & Arson unit responded. Read more
• Eight people were shot overnight from the Old Irving Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side to the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side, police said. A man, 34, was dropped off at Our Lady of the Resurrection Hospital with gunshot wounds to his torso about 12:20 a.m. Police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said. The man was shot south of the intersection of Irving Park Road and Avondale Avenue and was transferred from OLR to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. Read more
