Seven people were displaced by an extra-alarm fire in West Rogers Park this afternoon, authorities said.

No one was injured in the 2-11 alarm fire in the 6900 block of North Oakley Avenue that started a little after 1 p.m., fire officials on the scene said. Firefighters had to deal with a frozen hydrant on arrival, but were able to extinguish the fire on the upper floors of the building by about 1:30 p.m., fire officials said.

Red Cross volunteers went to the scene and helped seven people, including three chidlren, whom the fire displaced, with food and shelter, said Patricia Kemp, a spokeswoman for the American Red Cross of Greater Chicago. | Twitter: @ChicagoBreaking
