Related shootings leave 2 teens wounded in Ford Heights

Two male teens were wounded this evening in separate but related shootings in south suburban Ford Heights, officials said.

The first shooting happened about 6:47 p.m. near the intersection of Diplomat Lane and Woodlawn Avenue. The second shooting occurred three minutes later near 13th Street and Cottage Grove Avenue, according to a spokeswoman for the Ford Heights police dispatch unit. 

The two victims, ages 16 and 17, were taken tto St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights with non-life-threatening injuries, ssaid Cook County sheriff's spokeswoman Liane Jackson.

A suspect was arrested shortly after the shootings, she said.
