Two men were stabbed and seriously wounded after a confrontation with a group of other men in the Noble Square neighborhood this morning.

The men, ages 26 and 27, were on the sidewalk in the 1500 block of West Division Street when they had a confrontation with a group of other men or boys a little before 5:10 a.m., said Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada.

Both men were taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where they were in serious condition, Estrada said.

The two became caught up in a fight with one of the men, but didn't realize until after the group left them that they had been stabbed and cut, Estrada said. Estrada said he did not have details about what may have started the fight.

The two men were believed to have left a bar not long before the confrontation, according to police.

No one was in custody in the attack.
