A man was killed and another person injured after a shooting occurred in the Gresham neighborhood tonight that ended with a vehicle crashing into a viaduct, officials said.
The incident happened at 6:34 p.m. as a man was driving a vehicle and was shot near the 7500 block of South Parnell Avenue, police said.
The vehicle continued on for several blocks where it lost control and struck a viaduct near the intersection of 75th and Eggleston.
Police said at least one of the people sustained a gunshot wound to the hip.
The two people were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition, fire officials said.
The shot victim, 23-year-old Daniel Walker of the 6900 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue, was pronounced dead at 7:32 p.m. at Christ hospital, a spokeswoman for the Cook County medical examiner's office said.
