Two Chicago-area men face a variety of charges for trying to sell an undercover cop more than $37,000 worth of cocaine on Saturday.

Pedro Ascensio, 52, of Berwyn, and Eduardo Mojica, 37, of Cicero, attempted to sell 269 grams of cocaine, more than half a pound, to an undercover officer on the 2500 block of South 52nd Avenue in Cicero, within 1000 feet of a church, according to court records.

Ascensio was ordered held in lieu of $100,000 bail at Cook County Bond court on Sunday. Mojica was ordered held in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Ascensio faces five counts of manufacturing and delivery of cocaine, according to court records.

He allegedly sold various smaller quantities to an undercover officer a dozen times since October, according to court records.

Mojica faces three counts of manufacturing and delivery of cocaine, plus an attempted manufacturing charge and possession of a controlled substance because he had another 14 grams on him at the time of arrest, according to court records.

Mojica sold cocaine to undercover police a handful of times in May, all within a 1,000-foot zone around churches, schools or parks, according to court documents.
