Three players who are to attend Missouri were drafted. The White Sox took Morton West left-hander Ryan Crowley in the 36th round, the Nationals grabbed Edwardsville outfielder Dane Opel in the 41st and the Pirates tabbed Normal West outfielder Blake Brown in the 48th.Also selected were:
*Scott Firth (Clemson), a Stevenson righty the Orioles tabbed in the 36th.
*Nathan Dorris (Vanderbilt), a hard-throwing lefty from Marion the Braves picked in the 45th.
*Jerad Grundy (Miami), a Johnsburg left-hander the Rangers took in the 46th.
*John Nasshan (Bradley), a righty from Niles West the Cubs drafted in the 48th.
Among notable collegians taken Thursday were Southern Illinois righty David Kington, who went to the Cardinals in the 34th; North Carolina right-hander Colin Bates, a Naperville Central grad who went to the A's in the 37th; Illinois outfielder and Stevenson graduate Joe Bonadonna, who the Rangers took in the 43rd; Harlan grad Anthione Shaw, an outfielder at St. Augustine's College who appealed to the A's in the 45th; and third baseman Evan Sharpley of Notre Dame, who the Mariners picked in the 50th and final round.
