Windsor Locks Garners State Transportation Grant

The Connecticut Department of Transportation awarded Windsor Locks a $1.84 million grant for improvement on three Main Street parcels.

The town received an initial $137,000 in 2016.

First Selectman Christopher Kervick said the $137,000 went toward property acquisitions and an engineering study, which is completed. The properties are located at 246, 252 and 254 Main St.

A steep hill behind the parcels leads to Chestnut Street.

Kervick said the state was pleased with the progress made on the properties, which helped secure the $1.84 million in construction funds. A two-tier retaining wall will be installed to shore up a hill behind the properties.
