Hard landing helicopter triggered large emergency response in Harford

A host of EMTs, firefighters and police rushed to the scene of a reported plane crash late last week that turned out to be a false alarm, triggered by a hard helicopter landing miles from the purported crash site, according to police and rescue personnel. Emergency calls for a downed aircraft in the vicinity of East Jarrettsville Road, near the Forest Hill Industrial Airpark, about four miles north of Bel Air, were first broadcast shortly after 8 p.m. Thursday. Harford County Sheriff's Office deputies, volunteer fire company crews and the Harford County squadron of the Civil Air Patrol went to the area, where they searched for more than 30 minutes without finding anything, according...
