Florida kayaker reels in 552-pound goliath grouper

A Florida man shrieked and squealed as he reeled in a 552-pound goliath grouper while kayaking in Sanibel. A YouTube video of the catch that's going viral puts the massive fish's size at about 7-feet long and 6-feet around. Jon Black of Cape Coral told the media that he set the fish free after measuring it since state law prohibits fishers from harvesting the critically endangered species. As massive as it may be, this particular fish pales into comparison to other members of its species, which can get up to 800 pounds and 8-feet long, according to the Florida Museum of Natural History.
