DEAR JOYCE: My 22-year-old son has been a big Facebook user for years. Now he's job hunting. I suggested that he go back over his social media posts to clean up anything that might shut him out from being hired. Am I right? -- Y.V.A.

Yep! Every study I've ever seen agrees with you that negative online data can torpedo a job seeker's chances. The latest: More than one-third of companies in a new survey have disqualified a job candidate in the past year because of concerns about information found on public social media or an online search.
