Box office top 20: 'Dark Tower,' 'Detroit' struggle

Kathryn Bigelow's race-riots docudrama "Detroit" struggled to find a wide audience, while the poorly reviewed Stephen King adaptation "The Dark Tower" finally arrived to middling results.

Sony Pictures' "The Dark Tower," starring Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey, still managed to take the top spot in North American theaters with a $19.2 million debut. That pushed Christopher Nolan's "Dunkirk" to second with $17.1 million in its third weekend of release, according to final box-office figures Monday.
