SIMSBURY — A civic group from Massachusetts visited Wednesday to get more information about Simsbury's Old Drake Hill Flower Bridge, hoping to renovate a similar bridge in their hometown.
Heidi Stevens, a resident of Leeds, Mass., said the Hotel Bridge, also known as the Old Shepard Road Bridge in her hometown, was closed recently because it was deemed unsafe.
Stevens, Sue Carbin and Penny Geis of the Leeds Civic Association want to restore the bridge and create something similar to the flower bridge in Simsbury, a 19th century iron truss bridge.
