NEWINGTON — The town hall building committee heard a new proposal Tuesday, this one to completely tear down the existing town hall and community center and replace them with an entirely new structure.
Until now, the committee has looked at a plan that would raze parts of the building while retaining its central core.
Architect Charles Boos, who offered the new plan on his own initiative, said a completely new structure would be cheaper, simpler and allow for a better design. It would also cut the estimated construction time of up to three years in half because the work would no longer have to be done in phases, Boos said.
