McCormick Place stepping up security in wake of terror attacks

The 108th Chicago Auto Show will feature something new next month: roaming police-dog patrols.

Because of terrorist attacks at home and abroad, and increased concerns by customers, security is getting beefed up for conventions and trade shows at McCormick Place this year, including the annual auto show Feb. 13-21.

A broader review by Chicago-based security firm Hillard Heintze will also be done in the wake of the "unrelated" shooting death last Saturday in the hotel lobby at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, officials said.
