Series: Villanova leads 5-3
What's at stake: A chance at the postseason. After last weekend's 31-20 loss at the hands of Old Dominion, the defending CAA champions are in danger of being left out of the FCS playoffs and dropping out of the Top 25. If the Tigers can pull off the upset on the road against the top team in the conference, it sets them up for a run of three winnable games to close out the season and a whole lot of momentum. It won't be easy though. The Tigers have been anything but road warriors this season, having gone 0-3 away from Baltimore.
Key matchup: Villanova's backfield boasts two of the top four runners in the CAA, including the No. 1 runner in sophomore Kevin Monangai. Both Monangai and freshman John Robertson have combined for 1505 yards and 18 touchdowns in leading the No. 1 rushing offense in the CAA (269.1 ypg). Towson defense ranks in the middle of the conference in stopping the run (145.4 ypg) and will need to be on top of its game to slow down this ground attack and keep the pressure off the offense to keep up with the Villanova offense.
Player to watch: With Villanova looking to run through the Tigers with its formidable ground attack, the front four of the Towson defense will have its hands full. Watch DT Arnold Farmer (Baltimore Poly High School), who is ninth on the team with tackles (21) and has posted 1.5 TFL and one sack. The play of Farmer will go a long way to dictating how the defense will fair against the run. If he's on his game, causing chaos in the backfield and getting his hands on the running backs, he could have a big day.
