Two people have been arrested in the robbery of an ice cream shop in Westminster, in which a shop employee reported having her life threatened.
Police officers and a canine unit responded to Hoffman's Ice Cream in the 900 block of Washington Road about 3:30 p.m. Friday for a report of an armed robbery, and immediately began searching the area for suspects, Maryland State Police said.
"Investigators learned the male suspect had approached employees at the counter and threatened to shoot one of them if she did not give him the money in the register," police said.
A weapon was not displayed, and no one was injured, but the suspect was given an undisclosed amount of cash being fleeing the scene, police said.
Through an investigation, police said they determined that Christopher G. Sorger, 35, was the suspect, and that he had been assisted by Danielle L. Frederick, 32. The last known address for both Sorger and Frederick is the first block of Washington Lane in Westminster.
Both were found by state police Friday night at a hotel in Baltimore County, police said. They were arrested without incident and returned to Carroll County to await bond hearings before a court commissioner, police said.
Each has been charged with armed robbery, robbery, first-degree assault and conspiracy to commit armed robbery, police said.
