An early morning fatal crash on Interstate 95 South at the Intercounty Connector in Prince George's County involving three vehicles, including a tractor trailer, backed up traffic for nearly four hours on Wednesday, according to the Maryland State Police.
The state Department of Transportation reported the incident at 3:38 a.m., and SHA spokesman Charlie Gischlar said that traffic was diverted east and west along Route 32 to southbound Baltimore Washington Parkway, U.S. 1 and Route 29.
DOT reported the incident cleared at 7:10 a.m. It was one among three that have shut down traffic in both directions on the region's roadways, according to the state transportation authorities.
All lanes were closed in both directions on MD 128 at Worthington Avenue in Baltimore County for more than two hours after a tree fell on electrical lines on the roadway at Worthington Avenue, according to DOT.
The incident was initially reported at 6:58 a.m. Gischlar said that BGE tree service and utility personnel removed the tree from the wires and have restored the overhead lines. He added that an SHA crew has begun chopping up the tree and removing debris. While westbound traffic remains closed at 10:15 a.m., one lane has been opened eastbound and traffic is moving bi-directionally with a flagging operation to alternating Butler Road, Gischlar said.
