The injured woman, identified Sunday as Rosella K. Nolte, was taken to the burn center at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center for life-threatening injuries, according to a statement from Division Chief Michael E. Cox.
Firefighters were called at 1:35 p.m. to the 1300 block of Shore Drive where they found heavy smokes coming from a one-story house, Cox said.
Neighbors told fire crews there were still people trapped inside the home, he said, and firefighters found two victims. Cox did not know the age or gender of the victim who died. Nolte was flown by helicopter to Bayview.
It took firefighters about 30 minutes to extinguish the blaze that started inside the home. About 60 firefighters from Anne Arundel County, Annapolis, and the U.S. Naval Academy responded.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
