Firefighter injured battling Pasadena house fire

Fire severely damaged a Pasadena home Saturday, causing an estimated $150,000 in damage and sending one firefighter to the hospital.

A report of a fire in a two-story, single-family home in the 1200 block of Hilltop Drive was received at 12:36 p.m., fire department spokesman Lt. Jack Beall said. In all, 44 firefighters reported to the scene. The fire was declared under control at 2:10 p.m., he said.

Two adults and one juvenile live in the home, Beall said, but only the juvenile, who escaped without injury, was home at the time of the fire. There were no working smoke detectors in the home, Beall said.

One firefighter was taken to University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries, Beall said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
