State police recover body of man in Patapsco waters

Maryland State Police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in shallow water in Patapsco Valley State Park in the Brooklyn Park area on Wednesday.

Police said the man was found in about two feet of water in the Patapsco River near Belle Grove Road and Thomas Avenue. The man, identified as Wesley Scott Jacob, 35, of Idaho, was pronounced dead at the scene, Maryland Natural Resources Police said. Jacob has ties to the area, officials said.

Police said Jacob's body will be transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.

Anne Arundel police had initially been called to the scene at about 11 a.m. State troopers and Natural Resources Police also responded, and Arundel spokesman Lt. T.J. Smith said state police took the lead because the property is within the state park.
