Baltimoreans are discovering that the inmates have been running the Baltimore City Detention Center, namely the BGF or Black Guerrilla Family ("Corruption alleged at jail," April 24).
Tavon "Bulldog" White, a leader in the BGF gang was quoted as saying "This is my jail." Who would argue with him, as the incriminating article did not mention the name of the detention center's warden?
Now that it's been resolved as to who is running the prison, it makes me question how this situation devolved into its current state. Prison guards are accused of aiding and abetting Mr. White, and being crucial chess pieces in allowing him to wrest so-called control of the prison. As twisted and perverted as the judicial system is, the truth is that the accused guards will probably lose their jobs and nothing more. It's just how the judicial system rolls in Baltimore. It too, is part of the problem.
This prompts me ask the question, just exactly who is running the jail?
The outlook this summer for the BCDC is hazy, with a good chance of uprising.
