Terrorist attacks diminish our freedoms

I've been at the finish line of several marathons and know the crowding and congestion there. The bomb blast at the Boston Marathon was gruesome ("Marylanders caught up in chaotic scene," April 16).

What concerns me now, however, is that the Department of Homeland Security and other agencies will demand — and be given — more authority to intrude into our personal lives and our freedom of movement.

Every time a terrorist attack occurs there has also been an attack on privacy. This time, that must not be allowed to happen.
