Boehner won't throw his colleagues and principles under the bus

I found Bruce Hamilton's commentary on House Speaker John Boehner not only offensive but wrong-headed ("The way out for John Boehner," Oct. 9).

Should Mr. Boehner throw his colleagues and his principles under the bus just so Democrats can support him while Republicans hold a majority in the House? I'm disgusted that The Sun would even print such drivel.

Is it all about Mr. Boehner holding onto his speakership and not about what's best for this country? That's what's wrong with liberals and their ilk serving as politicians in government and not as representatives of their constituents.

Apparently, the only thing important to them is preserving their authority and power through backroom deals and subterfuges at the expense of American taxpayers.
