Ben Carson, a fresh voice for conservative values

Dr. Ben Carson speaks passionately about getting people off the plantation, as opposed to those on the liberal left who want to protect their voting base and keep people dependent on government ("Carson apologizes, offers to withdraw from speech," March 30).

For this he should be applauded and respected, but instead he is criticized for being a friend of the conservative right. By the way, there is nothing wrong with that.

A lot of people are hungry for someone who is not afraid to speak up, someone who is not intimidated by the thought police. I see Dr. Carson as a ray of hope, but I am worried he will be skewered and crucified by those who are threatened by his message of independence.
