Ann Arrundell County Historical Society

The society needs volunteers interested in county history to act as docents at the Benson-Hammond House in Linthicum or as research aides at the Historical and Genealogical Research Center in Glen Burnie. Docents at the Benson-Hammond House will interpret life on a 19th-century truck farm and present the society's collection of historical artifacts. Research aides will help manage the society's documents, photograph collections and assist visitors with inquiries. Hours are flexible, and training will be provided for both positions. Annapolis Maritime Museum

The museum needs volunteers on a continuing basis to maintain and expand its environmental education program, conduct tours of the Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse, restore wooden boats, interpret the museum's exhibits to the public, and help with the winter seminar series, the summer concert series, and events such as the Annapolis Oyster Roast and Sock Burning in March and the Boatyard Beach Bash in September. Festival by the bay

The 46th annual Maryland Seafood Festival, being held Sept. 7-8 at Sandy Point State Park, needs volunteers 21 and older to man the front gate, and volunteers 18 and older for VIP host/hostess, parking and other positions. Volunteers receive free admission, parking and food tickets. Community walk

Volunteers are needed to support the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention by participating in the Annapolis Out of the Darkness Community Walk on Saturday, Sept. 7. The walk starts and ends at the Susan B. Campbell Park at the Annapolis City Dock. House of Hope

Volunteers are needed for administrative support, transportation to and from appointments, job counseling and life-skills coaches, computer maintenance help and serving on the board of directors. Also, donations of food and clothing items, cleaning, office and kitchen supplies, paper products, toiletry items, landscaping tools and more are needed. Moveable Feast

Moveable Feast, a nonprofit organization, provides home-delivered meals for clients with HIV/AIDS. Volunteers, who can be as young as 16 (15 or younger with an adult), are needed to deliver meals between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Meal delivery takes about an hour. Scheduling is flexible. Volunteers are asked to deliver once a week or once a month. Craft beer and music

Volunteers are needed for the Annapolis Craft Beer and Music Festival, being held from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at Navy-Marine Memorial Stadium in Annapolis.
