'Alice,' the musical
A musical based on the "The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking Glass' will be performed April 13-22 at the Children's Theatre of Annapolis, 1661 Bay Head Road. Museum open house
The Captain Salem Avery Museum, 1418 E. West Shady Side Road in Shady Side, resumes its Sunday open house schedule beginning Sunday, March 25, with the statewide observation of Maryland Day. Arbor Day race
Adkins Arboretum hosts its seventh annual race to celebrate Arbor Day on April 7 at 12610 Eveland Road in Ridgely. The event features a 5K run, a 1-mile family fun run/walk and a 100-yard dash for kids. Registration begins at 8 a.m., with the kids' dash taking place at 8:45 a.m. The family run/walk starts at 9 a.m. "Green" prizes will be awarded and refreshments provided. 5K participants will receive white oak saplings in honor of Arbor Day. Study of old age
The Department of Aging and Disabilities seeks seniors 80 and older who are mentally sharp and in good health as possible candidates for the National Institute on Aging's study into what determines a person's longevity.
All qualified participants will receive a complete physical examination, including tests of strength, stamina and mental sharpness. The study will help its directors to observe the aging process and to identify the secrets of aging well.
'Women in Industry'
The YWCA's annual "Tribute to Women in Industry" awards dinner will be held at 5:30 p.m. June 6 at the Westin Annapolis, 100 Westgate Circle.
The event lets companies honor executive and professional female employees who have made significant contributions to their workplace and community. It also recognizes local companies that promote professional growth and development for female employees.
All proceeds benefit the TWIN program and YWCA services supporting victims of domestic violence.
Advance ticket purchase is required for this event, which is open to the public. Individual tickets and sponsorship packages may be purchased at annapolisywca.org. Tickets are $85 per person, $65 for previous honorees.
