His pride, however, took a little bruising when cameras captured him banging his head trying to exit the airplane at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.

"I was getting out of the plane and looking up and bumped my head getting out," said Bajema, adding that he didn't suffer a concussion after sustaining a mild one during the Ravens' regular-season finale against the Cincinnati Bengals. "This was just a little embarrassing mishap. I thought no one saw it, but there were a lot of cameras out there. Coach [John] Harbaugh told me. He said, 'I guess you made the news bumping your head getting off the plane.'"
The 6-foot-4, 259-pound player didn't catch a pass, but has played well in his role.
"I've been in that short-yardage and goal line and clearing some holes so Ray Rice can do his thing and get in the end zone," Bajema said. "It's been fun."
Drafted in the seventh round by the 49ers out of Oklahoma State in 2005, Bajema played four seasons in San Francisco before a three-year stint with the St. Louis Rams. He joined the Ravens during the preseason when Pitta and Dickson suffered injuries.
"The 49ers are the team that drafted me and a lot of the guys I got drafted with are still there," said Bajema, who has caught 38 career passes for 398 yards and two touchdowns, along with 22 special-teams tackles. "A lot of their core guys on offense and defense are still there. You're kind of happy for them that they turned it around and got it going."
Bajema had been out of work during the offseason since starting a dozen games for the Rams last season and catching nine passes for 71 yards.
"The Ravens picked me up, and I'm thankful they did," Bajema said. "I was waiting at home for a team to call. I'm so thankful it ended up being the Ravens. It's been a great ride."
