House Speaker Michael E. Busch named the six delegates yesterday who will serve on a committee investigating the Ehrlich administration's personnel practices.
As he had promised, Busch named Del. Adrienne A. Jones, a Baltimore County
Democrat, as the House's co-chair of the committee, and Del. George C.
Edwards, the House minority leader from Western Maryland, as a member.
"These people are a good cross-section with good backgrounds who will draw
conclusions based on where the investigation takes them," Busch said.
The investigation was sparked by complaints that officials in Gov. Robert
L. Ehrlich Jr.'s administration fired longtime civil servants for political
reasons. The administration denies the allegation.
The delegates join six senators on the committee. State Sen. Thomas M.
Middleton, a Charles County Democrat, will serve as the Senate co-chair.
Last month, legislative leaders asked the committee to meet over the summer
and decide on the format and scope of the investigation, which would then take
place in the fall.
