The Orioles will be the seventh major league team Eveland has been associated with since being drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 16th round of the 2002 amateur draft. He signed a split contract with the Dodgers a year ago and spent most of the 2011 season at Albuquerque before getting called up to make five starts in September.
He was 12-8 with a 4.38 ERA at Albuquerque and was selected to the midseason and postseason Pacific Coast League All-Star teams. In parts of seven seasons in the major leagues, he has a 19-24 career record and a 5.52 ERA.
Martin was taken in the 18th round of the 2009 draft out of Bakersfield Junior College. He was 5-12 with a 4.96 ERA in 31 games (18 starts) at Single-A Delmarva.
Henson was selected in the fifth round of the 2006 draftl. Having played at every level of the Orioles' minor league system, he has a career .263 average with 40 home runs and 277 RBIs in six seasons. He spent 2011 at Triple-A Norfolk, where he batted .247 with three homers and 36 RBIs in 123 games.
The Orioles also designated righty reliever Willie Eyre for assignment to make room for Eveland on the 40-man roster. Eyre was 2-2 with a 3.44 ERA in 19 games with the Orioles last season.
In another move, the Orioles sent infielder Greg Miclat, a fifth-round pick in 2008, to the Texas Rangers as the player to be named in the Taylor Teagarden deal. Miclat hit .280 with two homers, 24 RBIs and 50 stolen bases for Double-A Bowie last season.
Orioles executive vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette has indicated that he was working on a pair of deals at the winter meetings, so there could be more to report later in the day.
