Johnson, a St. Paul’s grad, was scratched from his scheduled start Friday at Triple-A Norfolk and could join the team in Toronto on Saturday.
The Orioles bullpen accounted for four innings in Thursday’s 12-6 loss to the Blue Jays, and manager Buck Showalter intentionally stayed away from relievers Jim Johnson, Darren O’Day and Tommy Hunter as a safeguard.

The good news for the Orioles is that tonight’s starter, right-hander Chris Tillman, has recorded six straight quality starts.
Other news from the clubhouse:
-- Adam Jones is back in center field after starting the past three games at designated hitter. In between innings on Thursday, Jones was jogging between the dugout and the right-field foul pole to test his sore right groin on the unforgiving Rogers Centre artificial turf.
-- Orioles top pitching prospect Dylan Bundy tested his full range of motion in his right arm and had no pain, a good sign after he received a platelet rich plasma injection on April 29 to help with forearm and elbow stiffness. Bundy, who shut down in early April, is still weeks away from resuming throwing.
-- Right-hander Jake Arrieta, who was optioned on Thursday to make room for Kevin Gausman, will make his first appearance back with Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday. He will share innings with left-hander Tsuyoshi Wada, who has been scheduled to make his third minor league rehab start on that day.
-- Catcher Taylor Teagarden (left thumb) caught batting practice and took swings against coaches and is expected to get into an extended spring game on Monday.
-- One other thing: Reliever T.J. McFarland’s mustache experiment is over. He’s freshly shaven today.
Here are tonight’s lineups:
