Republican gubernatorial hopeful Charles Lollar announced Monday that he has chosen conservative activist and writer Kenneth R. Timmerman as his running mate.
Timmerman, a New York native who's lived in Maryland the last 21 years, is making his second bid for public office. He was the Republican nominee in 2012 in an unsuccessful bid to unseat Rep. Chris Van Hollen, D-8th District. He and his family recently moved from Bethesda to Frederick County.
An author and writer for various publications, Timmerman is former president of the Maryland Taxpayers Association and president of the Foundation for Democracy in Iran.
Lollar, a Charles County businessman and ex-Marine, and Timmerman are vying against four other tickets in the June primary election to decide the GOP nominations for governor and lieutenant governor.
