C. Milton Wright

Bailey anchored the Mustangs' run to the Class 4A state championship.

The senior was consistent all season, running especially well in the state championship race, as her seventh-place effort helped C.M.Wright edge Eleanor Roosevelt of Prince George's County by one point.


Borisko just missed winning an individual state title this year, losing to Hereford's Kristen Malloy in the final .1 of a mile in the Class 3A state meet. She finished third in last year's Class 2A state race and kept improving this year.

The junior helped the Lions take this fall's Class 3A state title. She also ran well in several big meets, winning the Class 3A East regional, taking second in the Howard County championships and third at Bull Run.

River Hill

She had to battle some injury problems midway through the season but bounced back to finish strongly, sweeping the Howard County,Class 2A South regional and state championships.

The junior edged Howard's Elyse Borisko on a cold, rainy day at the Howard County meet and rolled from there. Harman played a huge role in River Hill's girls capturing the Class 2A state title.

Severna Park

The senior ended her high school cross country career on a bit of a down note with a 15th-place finish in the Class 4A state meet one week after winning the East regional. She finished second at the Anne Arundel County championships.

Kasimova also took second in the Knights Invitational and Disney Invitational and was fifth in the Bull Run at Hereford.


Larkin came back strong after missing much of last fall with injury problems. The senior anchored the Dulaney lineup and played a big role in the Lions winning the Baltimore County championship and finishing third in the Class 4A state meet.

She was second in both the county and North regional races before her 10th-place finish in the tough Class 4A state race.

South River

Lee followed up a fine debut as a freshman with another strong season.Her best effort might have been at the Anne Arundel County championships, which she won in 19 minutes, 36 seconds.

The sophomore followed that with a second-place effort at the Class 4A East regional and an 11th-place finish in the state meet.


Linde began her varsity career in style. The freshman ran well early in the season, then took off in the second half.

She placed 29th in the Howard County Invitational and 59th in Bull Run. Later in the season, she finished third in the Monocacy Valley Athletic League championships and won the Carroll County title and the Class 2A West regional crown. Linde then ran a strong race in bad weather at states, finishing second in 19 minutes, 59 seconds.

John Carroll

The senior developed into one of the area's top runners during her career at John Carroll and made her final season a memorable one. Stasakova posted a string of victories at big meets (Bobcat Invitational, Disney Invitational, private schools state championship, Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference championship). She finished second in the IAAM overall championship.

Glenelg Country School

Ricaurte was a strong runner all season but turned in her best performance in the IAAM championship race. That's when the B Conference runner finished first overall in 19 minutes, 1 second, beating A Conference rival Erika Stasakova of John Carroll by nine seconds. Ricaurte, a junior, then took third at the private schools state championships. She played a major role in the Dragons going undefeated to take the B Conference regular-season title.
