It likely will be an offseason filled with talk about awards and nominations for Orioles first baseman Chris Davis. The first one trickled in today when Davis was named as a finalist for the Major League Baseball Player Association’s Player of the Year and the American League’s Outstanding Player.
Davis, who led the major leagues with 53 homers and 138 RBIs, is up against Detroit Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera and Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw for the prestigious Player of the Year Award for the season’s best player regardless of league or position.
He’ll also face Cabrera and Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout for the AL-only award. The Players’ Choice Awards, which were voted on by Major League Baseball’s players on Sept. 17, will be announced on Monday, Nov. 4 from 8 to 9 p.m. on MLB Network.

That’s not the only MLB Network exposure that an Orioles player will get this offseason. Center fielder Adam Jones will serve as an in-studio guest analyst on MLB Network’s MLB Tonight during the League Division Series broadcast on Oct. 6 and 7.
Maryland native Mark Teixeira also will be a guest analyst for the show on Oct. 8 and 9.
