In today's B, we itemize some of Baltimore's outdoor bars: Woody's Rum Bar and Island Grill, The Bay Cafe, Mt. Washington Tavern's Sky Bar, Bourbon Street's The Terrace, and, of course, the Tiki Barge, where no potted palms were humped when I stopped by July 4.
Kona Grill manager Michael Haas says the bar offers "a different view of the metropolitan scene than the Inner Harbor." The bar is enclosed by glass doors that stay open most of the time unless it's raining.
Haas says Kona's most popular cocktail are the mojitos, especially one made with a coconut liqueur and splenda syrup. It sells for $7.
The dinner menu at Kona, which has been open since October, is expensive - between $20 and $25 for entrees. But the bar has an affordable happy hour from 3 - 7 p.m. and a reverse happy hour from 10 p.m. to midnight Mondays through Fridays. Drafts - Loose Cannon, Shock Top, plus six others - go for $4, and bottled beer is $5.50.
