3. If religions can have limits, why can't gun owners?

Mayo on the Side: Michael Mayo | Sun Sentinel Blogs
I got a lot of feedback on my Sunday column/letter to the NRA, but in the spirit of the season I figured I'd wait until after the holidays to fire back. At the end of the column, I rhetorically asked,......

13. The Makerbot Replicator 2X

I’m sure that at least a few of you have heard about 3D printing. No, not the kind of printing you do on printing presses, but 3D. No, it does not involve wearing green and red glasses like we did in the 1970s. From Wikipedia: “The practice of using 3D digital data within 3D CAD software to provide specifications for individual components and product assemblies. The types of information included are geometric dimensioning and tolerancing component level materials, assembly level bills of materials, engineering configurations, design intent, etc." In other words, you stick something into the replicator and it gets replicated.

15. Flying with Swan

When you travel as much as I do, you’re bound to run into the occasional luminary. In Cincinnati I’ve waited for the same plane as Gallagher, the comedian who smashes watermelons. Of course I covered myself in plastic and hid my bag of grapefruit immediately after I recognized him. At LaGuardia, I’ve run into former New York Gov. Mario Cuomo, the "Property Brothers" from HGTV and some dude who used to be in advertisements from Rambler cars back in the '60s. (He’s dead now, and might have been then, too?)

* (out of four)

21. Why count birds?

Have you heard of the term "citizen scientist"? If you haven't Wikipedia defines it as scientific research conducted, in whole or in part, by amateur or nonprofessional scientists, often by crowdsourcing. Citizen science is sometimes called "public participation in scientific research." This weekend you can take part in the Great Backyard Bird Count and become a citizen scientist.

23. Yes, Tina Fey is right about 'yes'

Yes, yes, yes.
Yes, yes, yes. I've been fixated on the word "yes" for the past few days, ever since hearing some radio pundit discussing Tina Fey, whose sitcom "30 Rock" ended its run last week with a gush of praise for its presiding genius. Whoever the radio talker...
