  4. Reap the Benefits: 35th Annual Reunion Weekend at Real Art Ways in Hartford

    The embarrassment of artistic riches this weekend at Real Art Ways is, well, embarrassing. Start at Creative Cocktail Hour on Thursday, which also acts as the opening receptions for the Poster Boy exhibit (pictured) and <em>Ephemeroom</em>, an exhibition created from archival relics collected by members and RAW devotees. On Friday, head to the "Realie" Awards Dinner at 6 p.m. at the Fox Room at Marquee (960 Main Street, $150). Last but not least, on Saturday there's a Stone Field Walk and Concert at 12 p.m., a geo-architectural tour of Hartford buildings led by Robert Thorson, and an improvisational music concert curated by trumpeter Stephen Haynes and guitarist Joe Morris on Saturday. Pick and choose, or hit them all up.

  9. Making "Of Lamb" at Real Art Ways in Hartford through Dec. 11

    To create "Of Lamb," an over-the-top remake of the famous nursery rhyme, poet Matthea Harvey took 19th-century British thinker Charles Lamb's biography and started randomly whiting out words, leaving short, Zen-like snippets, to which artist Amy Jean Porter added illustrations and sequencing (boutique publisher McSweeney's put it out into the world). View Porter's original drawings side-by-side with Harvey's whited-out source text; Porter and Harvey themselves will read some of the poems at the opening reception.
