Eldersburg woman raises more than $2,000 for Komen amid battle with breast cancer

Eldersburg resident Karen Laster encourages women not to put off recommended mammogram screenings. It was a standard screening that saved her life. Laster only went for a mammogram the last day of October 2012 because family and friends pestered her about it. She'd turned 40 earlier that year. "I went so everyone would stop hounding me," Laster said. The next day her gynecologist called Laster to tell her the lab would be calling to ask for a follow-up, but not to worry.
