    Artspace has announced a provocative new exhibit, at the gallery from mid-May through late June, about “racial identity, blackness and otherness.” The show uses cartoon images from animation and graphic art to explore these themes. The seventeen artists in the show are all under 40 years old, and curator Kenya (Robinson)—an established artist and performance artist currently studying sculpture at the Yale School of Art—promises to explore “blackness” not just as it relates to cultural identity but “the physical nature of ‘black’ and blackness as a formal choice,” noting the predominance of black in printed comics and photocopied zines.
